Religious Education First Holy Communion - "The Sacrament of the Eucharist"

Grades 1 & 2: First Eucharist preparation
This two-year Sacramental Preparation program is for baptized children and their families that begins in the First Grade. Grades 1 and 2 children may attend either the summer or fall RE program. Each child in order to receive First Holy Communion must receive the Sacrament of First Penance & Reconciliation. For more details visit our First Penance & Reconicilation page.

The expectation for children in Grade 1 & 2:

• participate in the Liturgy of the Word Dismissal during Mass every weekend ( Grade 1 and 2)
• participate in the Penance & Reconciliation retreat during Advent (Grade 2 only)

The Sacrament of the Most Holy Eucharist is celebrated every fall for all 3rd grade summer and fall students. A lottery is held the previous spring to determine what mass each child will be asssigned to. First Holy Communion occurs during certain weekend masses in the fall. 

First Holy Communion attire, it is as follows:

• Boys: Suits or sports jacket & dress slacks, shirt, tie, and dress shoes.
• Girls: Party dress: white or pastel, anklets or tights/stockings and shoes. Veils are optional. Flower crowns are optional.
