Lazarus (Consolation Ministry)

The Lazarus Ministry aids and assists families at the time of death to prepare for the rites of Christian burial and to offer comfort and guidance.  

Typical tasks and responsibilities:

• Meet with the family of the deceased to prepare for the rites of Christian burial.  
• Attend the wake service at the funeral home, leading prayers if neccessary.  
• Attend the funeral mass and assist as extraordinary ministers, altar servers.  
• Coordinate the annual Mass of Remembrance (All Souls) service.

Required training or skills: An orientation meeting, ocassional workshops etc

Approximate time commitment: A few hours over a several-day period for each funeral.
