A sacristan is a part of the worship team, who is essential to ensuring not only a prayerful liturgy, but one that flows smoothly.
Typical tasks and responsibilities:
Prepare the liturgical books, candles, vestments, and vessels for Mass.
Laundering the liturgical linens is also a part of this ministry.
Requirements:
A willingness to serve, and a brief training period.
Approximate time commitment:
New ministers attend an initial training. Sacristans must arrive 15 minutes before each Mass begins and remain 5 minutes afterwards in order to ensure that all elements are properly prepared for each Mass.
