Summer Intensive Religious Education Information
This program includes weekly Sunday Mass attendance, intergenerational participation throughout the year and a mandatory orientation prior to the Summer Session. The summer intensive is a two-week, 10 day program for the children, that takes place in either July or August.
Families must be registered active parishioners whose children have been in the Religious Education program for at least one year (with the possible exception of first grader families). This includes the New Parishioner Orientation meeting. Copies of each student’s Baptismal certificate and record of previously completed Religious Education classes (if applicable) and sacraments must be received by the office when registering in our program for the first time.
Please be aware that children entering grades 2-8 in September must have completed and passed their previous Religious Education grade work before they can be registered for the next school year. Additionally registration/class enrollment will not be processed until all paperwork is in the office. Returning Student who do not have a copy of their Baptismal Certificate on file in the office WILL NOT be secured in a class for the term.
Please anticipate your needs and complete the process in a timely manner so that we might provide for the needs of all our children & families. Admission is on a first come first serve basis. Classes closed when they fill. We encourage you to register early.

Why Summer RE? (30min video)
There are many challenges for families participating in the traditional after-school model for religious education. Transportation after school hours for working parents, poor attendance due to winter illnesses, sports schedules and homework all make the weekly fall program challenging.
The staff consists of Catechists who are fully certified teachers in the state of New Jersey. As well as being certified through methodology and theology through the Diocese of Trenton.
Upon arrival, the children are introduced to the theme of the day and participate in opening prayer. There are then two lessons, each 45 minutes in length, separated by a snack and break. The rest of the morning consists of a rotation of activities including attending daily mass weeekly. Parents will receive a complete orientation on the Sunday prior to the two-week program.
Yes! For more than a dozen years, several parishes in the Diocese have adopted this model with great success. Both parents and children find the experience an enrichment of their spiritual lives. In parishes where the program has been launched, the numbers of families choosing this model increases year by year.
